Innova Disc Golf
Innova Disc Golf, is one of the innovators of disc golf and equipment
(disc golf is also known as Frisbee golf).
Disc Golf is an inexpensive and physically accessible disc game for all ages and athletic ranges. The goal of each player is to traverse a course with as few numbers of throws as possible.
Disc golf Frisbee is closely tied to the recreational flying disc and is invented at around the early 1900s but not for certain since modern disc golf started appearing in the 1960s and is known to be invented by many people from different places independently. However it was George Sappenfield and “Steady Ed” Headrick who came up with the term “Disc Golf” as well as the first formal disc golf target.

In 1965, the Californian George Sappenfield was playing golf when he thought it would be fun for the kids to play golf with Frisbees. He then created object course using lamp poles and fire hydrants as targets. After college, Sappenfield introduced the game to adults through a tournament that was part of a recreation project. He contacted Wham-O manufacturing who supplied Frisbees and hula hoops for targets. Sappenfield’s acquaintance brought the game to UC Berkeley where it became popular on the campus and eventually had a permanent course in 1970.
It was, however, “Steady Ed” Headrick who set up the first standardized target course. He became known as the father of disc golf since is given credit for pioneering the modern era of disc sports. He also marketed the professional model Frisbee, pushed it to become a sport, and founded the International Frisbee Association (IFA), Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), Disc Golf Association (DGA), and Recreational Disc Golf Association (RDGA).
The rules of the game are similar to golf but there are various differences from it as well. One of these differences is that in disc golf, it is acceptable if a player falls in front of their lie after the release although this allowance is not applied to putting. If the lie is put within the 10 meter radius of what is known as “the Circle” with the pin at its center, it is officially considered a putt.
Unlike in golf, the first offense in Frisbee golf is not penalized a stroke. The golfer is required to re-throw the shot and is warned for the offense but for subsequent fowls, the golfer is both penalized with one stroke and must re-throw.
